Functions of Teachers’ Narratives in EFL Classroom Contexts

Although narratives have been widely used and investigated in the second/foreign language literature, studying authentic classroom contexts their functions has received comparatively little attention. To fill this gap, present study examines produced naturally by teachers within English-as-a-foreign-language to find out what these serve. The participants were five Iranian teaching general English courses a private institute. Following principles of qualitative research data analysis, 30 hours occurring first transcribed, then identified. After analyzing 23 determined dataset, three emerged, namely, moral, pedagogical, intercultural.
